Roméo et Juliette - Staatsoper

I just got back from being out of town for 9 days, so my post are a little bit off. That being said I am going to back track a bit before I cover my recent little venture around Europe.
Right before our break from school half of my apartment flew out of Vienna Friday, but 2 of us did not...so the two the would still be in Vienna decide to go to our first Opera! We went to the opening night of Romeo and Juliet and it was wonderful! The opera house is gorgeous, so just being inside was enough of an excitement. The opera house is a very important building in Vienna for many reasons, obviously because of all the arts it showcases, but it has also been around since 1869 and is therefore an intergral part of Vienna's history and one of its main landmarks.

Franz Joseph was once asked his opinion of it and he said that he did not think it was fit for and opera and looked like a barn or a sunken chest. Shortly after, the architect Eduard van der Nüll committed suicide. After that, it is said the Emperor never gave his true opinion again; instead when asked for his thoughts he always answered "I like it a lot."

After being inside, I think Franz Joseph was mistaken.
