As I said before, I had a 9 day break from school this past week, so I wne ton my first trip outside of Austria since I came to Europe. In 9 days I went to 4 different countries... my first stop was Dublin.
It was quite rainy when I go to Dublin, which was a change of pace from Austria (it had actually been was AND sunny right before I left). I grabbed a cab and headed to my hostel, and immediately I could tell I was going to like Ireland. I think the Irish are some of the nicest people in the world. Literally everyone single person I met was beyond friendly -- it single-handedly made me forgot that it was cold and raining. Dublin was the city I had the least amount of time in so I initially had figured I would only get to see one or 2 of the big monuments/attractions of Dublin since they are all in different parts of the city.
As I walked around St Stephen's Green (below), which was right near where I was staying I saw one of the city tour buses...normally in America I always laugh when I see people doing them, because they just look silly, but given my limited time I felt I just needed to become one of the tourist idiots. This was the best decision I made. I saw everything in Dublin, and I did not have to worry about getting lost finding them!
My bus driver's name was Martin, and we got along wonderfully as we made our way through Dublin.
*St. Stephen's Green, left. Bottom right, James Joyce's Bench in St. Stephen's.
